Lobbying strategy to advance municipal energy ambitions
Expertise:
Challenge
A municipality in the North of the country has been designated by the national government as a landing site for offshore wind energy. As a result, a port within the municipal boundaries and the adjacent industrial zone has become a prime location for green hydrogen production. This development presents a significant opportunity to strengthen the regional economy. To capitalize on this, the municipality engages IvCB to design and execute a tailored lobbying strategy.
Approach by IvCB
The lobbying strategy was preceded by a major study in which IvCB extensively identified opportunities and challenges, conducted a stakeholder analysis and ultimately developed a lobbying strategy. The recommendations from the strategy were then put into action by IvCB during the implementation of the report. It is a large project and IvCB supports the municipality on all facets of the implementation. From message development to strategic advice. For example, a coalition with other stakeholders is being developed to increase the municipality’s clout.
Result for the client
The municipality now has a robust lobbying strategy supported by a clear timeline that provides direction and continuity. IvCB’s guidance — both at the strategic level and throughout implementation — ensures disciplined execution and sustained momentum. As a result, the municipality is better positioned to realize its ambitions in renewable energy and regional development.
