Green data center builder moves closer to realization
Expertise:
Challenge
A Dutch data center builder intends to develop the most sustainable data center in a municipality in North Holland. However, obtaining a permit for this data center is partly prevented by provincial policy.
Approach by IvCB
IvCB began by conducting a detailed stakeholder and issue analysis, which informed the development of a strategic narrative and supporting position papers. Acting on behalf of the client, IvCB engaged with members of the Provincial Council of North Holland to positively influence the upcoming policy realignment. Key council members were identified and approached. IvCB then organized and facilitated on-site visits for policymakers to the client’s facility. Throughout the entire recalibration process, IvCB closely monitored provincial developments and ensured the client’s narrative was clearly communicated and resonated politically.
Result for the client
As a direct result of IvCB’s efforts, provincial policy has been amended to such an extent that it now offers room for our client’s sustainable initiative. The lobbying campaign was highly successful: the Provincial Executive of North Holland publicly cited the client’s project multiple times as a model for sustainable development.
